HOW TO USE THE LIBRARY
The library is an “open” library (librarians are not on duty full time) and books can be checked out simply by removing the green card found in each piece of media and putting your name, telephone number and date on the card (See example below). The card should then be placed in the right hand side of the green tray found on top of the card catalog cabinet in the library. Please do not take the green card home with you !!! (Note: Parents should review the green card filled out by their children to see that all the information is complete. Children tend to sign only their first name or do not enter phone numbers. School libraries have automated checkouts so children are not as familiar as adults with signing the check out card).
If someone other than a parishioner desires to check out a book, video or other media, it can be done in one of two ways:
1) Be “sponsored” by a parishioner. Both the person desiring to check out the book and the parishioner should place their name, date, and phone number on the green card together with the designation of “visitor” or “parishioner” as appropriate. Additionally, the visitor should include their address.
2) Receive permission from one of the librarians or a member of the church staff. The green card should be completed by placing their name, address, phone number and date on the card together with the name of the church staff member.
